Public Transport User Forum of IVU Traffic Technologies – a success again in 2008
280 participants from 12 nations
Focus on new developments and applications
Once again the Public Transport User Forum of IVU Traffic Technologies AG in 2008 was a success. 280 participants attended from 12 nations, including Norway, Hungary, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Discussions and presentations of new developments and applications of the IVU product suite for public transport were at the focus of attention during the forum, which took place on 14 and 15 February in Berlin.
Attendance was particularly good for the presentations about the further development of MICROBUS, IVU’s planning and dispatching system. Representatives of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) and the Swiss Federal Railways reported about the utilisation for railway operations, and Ulrich Jäger, who is in charge of the DB bus operations in North Rhine-Westphalia, reported about the practical aspects of the integrated optimisation of duty and vehicle schedules in the operations of DB Stadtverkehr GmbH.
Further key topics were the new developments and upgrades in the field of operational control and ticketing. Here too there were reports from companies about their experience, for example from Conexxion, the largest national bus company in the Netherlands, which operates its complete fleet management for several thousand buses using IVU’s computerised operational control system.
Stadtwerke Münster reported about the installation of the dynamic passenger information system. The new Ticket Navigator of the Munich Transport Association MVV makes it possible for passengers to use the Internet to enquire about both trip routes and ticket costs. Important new functions are also offered by infopool and Qbase, the IVU systems for data management and exchange between transport companies and organisers, relating for example to customer information and invoicing for performances on the basis of transport contract provisions.
“We are very satisfied with the response to the event”, said Martin Müller-Elschner, member of the Management Board of the Berlin software house and responsible for the Public Transport segment. “Above all, we are pleased about the increasing numbers of participants from other countries. We plan to cater for this demand even better next year, and to conduct the forum in at least two or possibly three languages.”
For all those who like to plan in advance: the next PT User Forum of IVU Traffic Technologies AG will take place on 26 and 27 February 2009 in Berlin.
