Filialinfo – IVU’s geomarketing software – wins seal of quality
Convincing performance in the benchmark testing of the Fraunhofer Institute for intelligent Analysis and Information Systems
Three geomarketing instruments tested in four categories
Winner in three categories – that is the result of the geomarketing benchmark tests for Filialinfo, the geomarketing software of IVU Traffic Technologies AG. Once again, IVU performed convincingly in the 2007 competition, which the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS) organised last November for the second time. Filialinfo received recognition for it special qualities in the sectors market potential analysis, location planning and optimisation, as well as customer analysis and sales management. A total of three companies entered their products in the benchmark tests.
For the test, the three geomarketing instruments were presented with a scenario in which the Tahiti car was to be launched on the market. The participants had to define the probable purchasing group and calculate the market potential, answer questions regarding the most promising sales locations and the appropriate site for the central stores, and plan the supplies for the sales centres. In contrast to the previous year, however, the systems entered in the test were not only presented with these questions but also with basic data. This ensured that performance this year was directly comparable in all points.
IVU was awarded a seal of quality in each of the sectors market potential analysis, location planning and optimisation, and customer analysis and sales management. The key factors in this evaluation were not only the performance of Filialinfo as an analysis tool but also the effective consultancy advice provided by IVU. It was this combination which made it possible to reach rapid and meaningful results. They provided a real basis on which to reach a decision for the implementation of the project planned within the test scenario.
A reason for the success of Filialinfo is the range of functions it offers and the years of practical experience which have meanwhile gone into its development. Functions such as Data-Mining and Business Intelligence are already included. In addition, various databases and ERP systems from SAP can be integrated on the input side, while at the same time the results can be presented by means of standard office software.
In the Benchmark 2007, Filialinfo impressed above all with its grid-based analysis functions. Data was not evaluated on the basis of pre-defined spatial structures such as postal codes. Instead, individual grid cells are the basis for a uniform analytical level. This makes it possible to provide a more realistic assessment of the potential of catchment areas for a selected location, taking into account a range of relevant factors such as population densities, data relating to target groups, through to the availability of parking spaces. In combination with data mining, this method will in future offer a fruitful approach to identifying promising interrelationships in company data.
